Greenway, February 2020
Summer came early: A Photographic Log
25 February 2020

Still no rain this month. Temperatures forecast to hit mid to high 70s F every day this week.

Not good for water supplies. Not good for wildfire safety. Not good for agriculture.

But great for bicycling.

I might as well take advantage of the weather.

A slight detour off the Greenway led to a bucolic scene.

The cows might have a different opinion about the setting.

This guy seems to be intently studying the cows.

Perhaps thirsty for a hit of fresh milk.

I don't know much about running a dairy.

On hot days maybe the cows ride up the conveyor and leap into the pond in order to stay cool.

It might be warm enough for swimming today but, based on the scent, I would probably avoid leaping into the pond.

Every plant in the county seems to be confused by warm temperatures and lack of rain.

By Friday I'm expecting it to be high summer and the middle of fire season.

My unit, which runs a little hot, shows 83° F. That's almost twenty degrees above average for this time of year.

The actual high in Santa Rosa hit 81°. That's a record for this date.

I had to squeeze in between the pair of Little Free Libraries and a car parked on the street in order to snap the photo.

I figured the owner would emerge from the house to investigate, but she didn't appear. It's okay, because I know her. She's a retired librarian from the same college where I worked.

Once a librarian, always a librarian.
