Kenwood, January 2020
On a clear and sunny day: A Photographic Log
6 January 2020, 26 miles

I had been hoping to get out of town yesterday with the Ogre for a week-long expedition to some wild and remote territory, but a variety of last-minute factors postponed my departure. Not sure when I'll be able to take off.

Meanwhile, today seemed perfectly bright and clear, so the Ogre and I went for a jaunt through some less wild and less remote territory. It was sunny and the thermometer eventually showed about 55, but it seemed almost cold. By the time I got back home, I was sweaty and chilly. Time for a mug of tea and big slice of my ace support crew's fresh banana bread.

While scoping out locations for the Cycle365 Challenge of the Month—rocks—movement caught my eye.

Oh. Looks like avians are swooping in and assembling.

This might be an avian elder.

Time for the tribal council?

Outside of Kenwood, I aimed the camera at Hood Mountain and Gunsight Rock.

Mirror at the end of a driveway.

After some careful maneuvering, I captured reflection of self, Ogre, and Gunsight Rock.

Another view of Hood Mountain and Gunsight Rock, this time framed by an oak, with Sugarloaf Park slightly off to the right.

I was saddened to learn today, by the way, that up in Sugarloaf the "Grandmother Oak" where I often hike came down recently in strong winds. It was a well-known landmark in a remote part of the park, estimated to be over 500 years old.

Slightly to the left of the tallest tree near the summit can be seen the formation known as Gunsight Rock. One of my favorite local hiking destinations.

Rock wall, Ogre, Hood Mountain, and Gunsight Rock.

I couldn't resist more action shots of my extreme mountaineering skills.

New world record. Fastest time to the summit, ever.

What style! What grace!

Next, free solo of El Cap. Watch out, Alex Honnold....
