Autumn Lake, December 2019
Spring Lake in the autumnal season: A Photographic Log
9 December 2019, 12 miles

After our rainy season officially began a few weeks ago, we had no rain, only fire. By Thanksgiving we remained barely above zero percent of average accumulated rainfall through that date.

Then the rain arrived with a vengeance. After about a week of non-stop downpour, we hit one hundred percent of average rainfall for the season to date. Whew! That meant spending way too much time on the indoor trainer.

The forecast for today looked much better. We ended up with far more fog than forecast, but I didn't let that prevent me from climbing aboard the Ogre and getting out and about for a short ride to see what the rain had wrought. It wrought autumn, judging from the look of things, which kind of makes sense, I suppose, because we're only a couple of weeks from winter.

Flatrock, where Brush Creek empties into Santa Rosa Creek.

Not long ago, it was completely dry. Now surf's up. Well, surf was up a couple of days ago when the rain continued to pour down. A little quieter right now.

Trees and fog.

Someone painted the curb in the parking lot at Spring Lake to match the leaves.

Nothing happening on the lake today.

Yep, quiet over here too on a gray and foggy day.

By the tunnel of trees.

I might be the only one in the park today.

Flashback to March at the same spot.

Seems like only yesterday when these trees were covered in blossoms.

Back to the present.

Old Grumble-Face, artsy and pretentious as usual.

When in doubt, photograph leaves on the ground.

Looking down the earthen dam, over the empty paved path, and across the quiet lake, muted by fog.

Time to pedal home for a cup of tea.
