Before the power goes out: A Photographic Log
8 October, 8 miles
Despite increasingly shrill warnings from Pacific Gas & Electric—they who already admitted liability for previous conflagrations and dozens of deaths, and who entered bankruptcy in order to protect their asses, I mean assets—about the likelihood of an impending shutdown of the electric grid across northern California to prevent more wildfires sparked by their power lines, I nevertheless took myself down to Tolay Regional Park on Tuesday after lunch. I planned to spend the afternoon pedaling on the East Ridge and West Ridge trails.Surprisingly, upon my arrival I discovered the park in the throes of preparing for an upcoming festival, and most of Tolay was closed and inaccessible. Only the trail on West Ridge remained open for business.
That made my ride considerably shorter than planned, but no less pleasant.
Afterwards I headed home and arrived in time for the big shutdown, which left us—and more than a million of our neighbors—without power.

Has Old Grumble-Face ever pedaled past a big rock without stopping to climb it?
But now it's time to head home and see if Northern California will be deprived of electricity.
