Paradise Ridge, May 2018
To the tasting room in Kenwood: A Photographic Log
30 May 2018, 24 miles

My ace support crew reminded me she needed to pick up her Wine Club shipment at Paradise Ridge.

That winery burned to the ground in the October fires, and a temporary tasting room opened in Kenwood while the facility is being rebuilt at the original site. By my usual meandering route, Kenwood is about ten or twelve miles away, so I was glad to agree to a rendezvous there.

Maybe I'd even get a glass of wine.

The exclusive community at the end of the quiet back road won its lawsuit to prevent bicyclists from trespassing on its streets. Now we need to take a longer and trickier—but more interesting—route, including this little bridge, in order to avoid the busy highway.

As soon as I blocked the bridge in order to take the photo, a woman on a bike showed up and I had to move the Ogre out of the way.

The Oakmont community garden. Maybe I could discreetly score some strawberries here....

I don't know where the bridge is, or was, but I'm thrilled they named it for me.

I pedaled part way up Pythian Road to snap this photo of Hood Mountain and Gunsight Rock.

Scars from the October fires remain visible.

I'm not dead yet!

The vultures seem to believe otherwise.

Looking down the valley.

Ogre, wall, and California poppies.

View from Campagna Lane, with Sugarloaf Ridge State Park in the distance behind the tree.

You never know when the opportunity for a reflectie will present itself.

Old Grumble-Face savors a glass of rosé in the pavilion at the Paradise Ridge Winery tasting room, temporarily on flat ground in Kenwood.

Only one pour! I still need to pedal home.
