Cycle Life Challenge 2018: Ride 2

The Cycle Life Challenge, now in its third year, is a virtual "global fest" of riders who follow a few simple rules, which can be boiled down to this: (1) Ride your bike. (2) Spend a modest sum before, during, or after in connection with your ride. (3) Post a bit about the ride along with photographic evidence of your purchase. (4) Repeat for a total of seven rides between 9 March and 30 April (for 2018).

On the planet Arrakis, among the endless dunes, I scan the horizon carefully before I set my thumper upon the surface of the sand and activate it. Instantly it begins the steady, rhythmic thump certain to attract a huge creature from beneath the sand sea. I tighten my grip on the rope and remind myself how to throw the hook and mount. In the distance I soon detect a hint of movement beneath the surface. Almost before I'm ready, a blast of sand and the cinnamon odor of melange announces its sudden arrival. There, nearly upon me, a sandworm of monstrous proportions!

Proof of purchase.
