Our artsy SOFA neighborhood: A Photographic Log

During the weekend—busy with family—the forecast encouraged me to look forward to a sunny Monday ride. Alas, by the time Monday arrived the weather failed to live up to the forecast. Despite the dreary weather, I decided to get out and about for a short ride. My mood was about as dreary as the weather, because I'm gradually coming to the realization that it looks like nothing can be done for my bad arm. Apparently surgery is not a viable option. Apparently physical therapy won't help. Either the arm will eventually come around on its own and I'll eventually regain some use, or it won't and I won't.Well, I can still manage a little pedaling, and pedaling always makes me feel better, so on two wheels I did climb.
It wasn't an extremely long or exciting ride. I cycled across town into the trendy little corner of Santa Rosa known as SOFA, the South A Street Art District. Galleries. Studios. Cafes. Restaurants. Revitalized residential neighborhood. And now we have a snazzy, refurbished motel catering to bicycling tourists. I tootled around a few blocks, through the nearby park, and up and down Art Alley itself. A few years ago this was a somewhat blighted area, but now around every corner there's something to bring a smile.
And I needed a smile.
It looks like someone is getting ready for Valentines Day.
Maybe this is another harbinger of Valentines Day.
